Role Overview
As an SDET-I (API Automation), you will play a key role in designing, analyzing, developing, and deploying high-quality testing solutions to solve complex business challenges. You will work closely with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to ensure reliable, scalable, and performance-driven backend systems.
This position focuses heavily on API-level automation, ensuring robust validation of business logic, integrations, and system performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to design, analysis, development, and deployment activities across projects
- Develop detailed test strategies and comprehensive test plans at functional and system levels
- Perform API automation using modern frameworks and tools
- Collaborate with Developers, QA Engineers, DevOps, and Program Managers in Agile sprints
- Analyze test logs, generate reports, and coordinate with stakeholders
- Execute and maintain automated test suites integrated with CI/CD pipelines
- Validate API responses including status codes, JSON paths, and payload structures
- Enhance AI-generated test scripts and verify via Postman collections or equivalent tools
Required Skills & Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in API Automation using Java and Rest Assured
- Hands-on experience with API testing tools such as Rest Assured, Karate, Postman
- Strong coding skills in Java, C, C++, Python, or Golang
- Solid understanding of API architecture and functionality (manual and automated testing)
- Experience in test planning, test design, and execution
- Regular use of AI tools for API automation, including test data generation and validation
- Good knowledge of databases (SQL and relational systems)
- Experience working with Android Studio, Xcode, Charles Proxy, Fiddler, Burp Suite, and ADB
- Experience analyzing logs and preparing test reports
Good to Have
- Experience with NoSQL databases
- Security testing knowledge
- Unix-based systems and shell scripting
- API monitoring tools such as Kibana, Grafana, InfluxDB
- Understanding of non-functional requirements (battery usage, crash logging, data consumption)
- Familiarity with Kafka, RabbitMQ, Crashlytics
- Backend performance testing using Gatling, JMeter, or Golang
