About the Role

As a QA Engineer II – Performance Testing, you will work closely with product and engineering teams to define, design, and execute comprehensive performance and load testing strategies. You will play a key role in ensuring system scalability, reliability, and optimal user experience.

This role requires strong analytical skills, deep expertise in performance testing methodologies, and hands-on Python scripting experience.


Key Responsibilities

Performance Strategy & Execution

  • Review functional and non-functional requirements to identify performance risks early
  • Design and execute load, stress, and endurance tests for web and backend systems
  • Define performance benchmarks, SLAs, and acceptance criteria

Automation & Scripting

  • Build and maintain performance test scripts using Python
  • Leverage Locust (preferred) with a tool-agnostic approach
  • Integrate performance tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous validation

Monitoring & Analysis

  • Analyze metrics such as response time, throughput, latency, and resource utilization
  • Identify bottlenecks in APIs, databases, infrastructure, or third-party services
  • Produce clear performance reports with actionable optimization recommendations

Collaboration & Engineering Excellence

  • Work with QA, DevOps, SRE, and development teams
  • Contribute to capacity planning and scalability discussions
  • Advocate for shift-left performance engineering practices

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 4–7 years of QA experience, including 2+ years in performance testing
  • Strong hands-on experience in performance testing for web apps and APIs
  • Proficiency in Python with maintainable and scalable test code development
  • Experience with tools such as Locust (preferred), JMeter, Gatling, or similar
  • Knowledge of REST API testing under load
  • Familiarity with Git and CI/CD workflows
  • Understanding of database performance fundamentals
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS (plus)
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
