🎯 Role Overview
As a Functional & Database Test Engineer, you will play a key role in validating complex mortgage workflows, backend systems, and API integrations. You will ensure systems meet regulatory compliance standards while maintaining high reliability in high-availability production environments.
This role combines strong manual testing fundamentals with automation expertise and deep mortgage domain knowledge.
🛠 Key Responsibilities
✅ Functional & Workflow Testing
- Design and execute test cases for mortgage workflows such as:
- Loan Origination
- Underwriting
- Document Validation
- Compliance Checks
- Perform regression, smoke, patch, and production release testing
✅ Database & XML Validation
- Validate backend data using SQL queries
- Verify XML structures across LOS, CRM, and underwriting systems
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy
✅ API Testing & Backend Validation
- Analyze API requests and responses
- Validate integrations such as credit checks, income verification, and disclosures
- Perform error handling and response verification
✅ Automation & Framework Development
- Develop and maintain UI automation using Java + Selenium
- Implement backend/API automation using Python scripting
- Enhance and customize automation frameworks
- Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins
✅ Agile & Test Management
- Participate in Agile ceremonies
- Use Azure DevOps (ADO) for test planning, execution, and defect tracking
- Provide demos and stakeholder updates
- Maintain detailed documentation for compliance and audit needs
💡 Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5–8 years of QA experience (Manual + Automation)
- Strong knowledge of STLC and defect lifecycle
- Mortgage domain expertise (LOS, AUS, disclosures, compliance)
- Proficiency in SQL and XML validation
- Experience with API testing
- Hands-on experience with Java Selenium & Python
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps (ADO)
- CI/CD integration experience using Jenkins
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to independently own testing activities

Experience with mortgage LOS platforms such as:
- Encompass
- ICE Mortgage Technology
- Calyx Point
Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as:
- Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB)

Additional exposure to performance testing and test data management tools is a plus.
