Role Purpose
The Automation Engineer L3 is responsible for designing, programming, simulating, and testing automation solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness across infrastructure and application landscapes. The role focuses on building scalable automation frameworks, enhancing DevOps practices, and ensuring seamless deployment processes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Requirement Analysis & Automation Strategy
- Analyze software requirements, system architecture, and technology stacks
- Understand system interdependencies and infrastructure environments
- Work with project management teams to define automation roadmaps
- Contribute to automation architecture improvements and framework enhancements
- Develop reusable libraries and scalable automation solutions across technology stacks
- Research and adopt modern infrastructure automation practices
2. Design, Development & Execution
- Ensure readiness of environments for automation execution
- Design test plans, test cases, scenarios, and usage cases
- Develop technical specifications and resolve complex design challenges
- Implement automation for both functional and non-functional requirements
- Track, report, and maintain automation metrics for coverage and efficiency
- Own validation of code and eliminate defects prior to deployment
- Maintain defect databases and document mitigation techniques
- Design and enhance automated testing tools to ensure efficiency and accuracy
- Develop automation programs adhering to Wipro standards and best practices
3. Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication
- Work within Agile delivery teams to understand product vision and backlog
- Develop scalable automation tests for regression, functional, and performance testing
- Assist in defining acceptance criteria and building automation backlogs
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to strengthen CI/CD and continuous deployment practices
- Coordinate with business SMEs to design and deploy automation tools
- Ensure long-term maintainability through comprehensive documentation
- Provide technical support to testers and stakeholders
- Perform backend/database programming when required
- Stay updated with industry standards and emerging infrastructure automation tools
