Job Overview
Cognizant is seeking a V&V HMI Test Engineer to validate and support Connectivity and Infotainment HMI features across multiple product variants. The role involves analyzing requirements, identifying errors, and developing detailed manual and automated test cases based on HMI specifications.
The ideal candidate will execute different testing types such as functional, UI, regression, smoke, and sanity testing, while ensuring quality, performance, and reliability of automotive infotainment systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform validation and verification of automotive HMI and infotainment systems across different variants.
- Conduct manual and automated testing including functional, regression, smoke, and UI testing.
- Work with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test environments and CAN-based validation platforms.
- Create, review, and execute test cases based on customer and product requirements.
- Analyze test results and logs, identify discrepancies, and debug issues.
- Use automotive communication tools such as CANoe, CANalyzer, and CANape for validation.
- Support defect lifecycle management and maintain testing documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure feature validation and quality delivery.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering field.
- 4+ years of experience in automotive testing, especially Infotainment and HMI validation.
- Strong experience in Manual and Automated Testing, Test Design, and Test Execution.
- Hands-on experience with HIL platforms or CANoe-based test environments.
- Expertise in CAN communication protocols and Vector tools (CANoe, CANalyzer, CANape).
- Familiarity with SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) and defect tracking tools.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools such as JIRA or Rally.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of automotive communication protocols such as DoIP and SOME/IP.
- Experience with ECU flashing, secure software updates, and rollback strategies.
- Scripting experience for automation and log analysis using Python.
- Familiarity with ALM or Confluence tools.
- Knowledge of test environment setup, HIL benches, CAN/LIN tools, and release readiness criteria.
- Certification such as ISTQB Foundation Level is a plus.
