Rocket Software Careers Software Engineer in Test Job Description Summary:

The Software Engineer in Test-II (SDET) is responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of software products by designing, implementing, and documenting code automation. The SDET will work closely with engineering counterparts to meet customer commitments and build productive relationships with cross-functional teams to achieve customer quality specifications.

Responsibilities:

• Validate software products using systematic tests to develop, apply, and maintain quality standards within an agile team.
• Automate and maintain multiple features or modules.
• Observe and record defects in software products and analyze failures through automated or semi-automated test execution.
• Conduct coverage analysis and proactively adjust testing to improve test coverage.
• Integrate quality into all aspects of software development, data acquisition, and processing.
• Implement software enhancements, correct defects, and create new products under limited direction from a manager or team lead.
• Follow established QA processes and procedures with minimal supervision.
• Document and communicate on technical topics.
• Apply programming knowledge and understanding of hardware and software systems to the role.
• Maintain a focus on the success of the product while attending to the details of assigned features or components.
• Identify issues and ask customer-centric questions to advance solutions development.
• Work effectively within a team environment, demonstrating collaboration, accountability, and dependability.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
• Experience in design using good object-oriented programming practices and design patterns.
• Experience with test automation frameworks.
• Competence in automation using scripting or other programming languages.
• Ability to review and interpret product code and logs.
• Experience in building test environments for functional, system, and stress testing.
• Familiarity with problem tracking systems and test case management systems.
• Strong communication skills within a team environment.
• Ability to self-direct learning of application subject matter.
• Independent thinking and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
