Role Summary

Scrut Automation is looking for a versatile QA Engineer with 2–4 years of experience who can work across manual and automation testing. In this role, you will own the quality assurance process for the company’s SaaS web application, implementing comprehensive testing strategies ranging from exploratory manual testing to building robust UI and API automation frameworks integrated with CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

Testing & Quality Ownership

• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to define quality parameters for features and releases.
• Perform manual testing including functional, exploratory, regression, and integration testing for web applications.
• Develop and maintain UI automation test suites using tools such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
• Build and maintain API automation frameworks using REST Assured, Postman/Newman, or similar tools.
• Create and maintain test documentation, including test plans, test cases, automation scripts, and reports.

Automation & CI/CD

• Write clean and maintainable automation code using Java or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Integrate automated tests with CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
• Utilize AI tools to accelerate automation tasks such as generating test data, creating test scenarios, optimizing selectors, and debugging flaky tests.
• Monitor test execution in CI/CD pipelines and maintain test stability and reliability.

Defect Management & Communication

• Identify, report, and track defects with detailed reproduction steps.
• Coordinate testing activities during Agile sprint cycles.
• Communicate quality status, risks, and blockers to stakeholders.
• Continuously improve test coverage, automation frameworks, and QA processes.

Requirements

Must Have

• 2–4 years of QA experience in both manual and automation testing, preferably in SaaS web applications.
• Strong programming skills in Java or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience with at least one UI automation tool: Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium WebDriver.
• Experience with API testing and automation using REST Assured, Postman, or similar tools.
• Experience with CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
• Familiarity with test frameworks like TestNG, JUnit, Jest, or Mocha.
• Experience using AI tools to accelerate QA workflows (test generation, debugging, test data creation).
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

Nice to Have

• Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter or k6.
• Knowledge of Docker and containerized testing environments.
• Familiarity with test management tools such as BrowserStack Test Management, TestRail, Zephyr, or Xray.
• Understanding of Page Object Model and automation design patterns.
