Job Summary:

As an Automation Test Specialist, you will be responsible for leading key enhancements in digital functions to ensure that Telstra is investing in the right areas to deliver their T22 Strategy. The job requires you to drive innovative ways to test platforms that service internal and external customers and promote analytics and robotics process automation for tool and platform maintenance. The role demands an individual with a breadth of skills and experience in automating testing for software platforms (front-end and back-end), building automated deployment pipelines that support ongoing automated testing, knowledge in best practice standards for CI/CD delivery, expertise in technical leadership and analytics, and the ability to deliver proactive automated remediation.

Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of an Automation Test Specialist include:

• Collaborating with your team to build, test, and maintain testing scripts and their supporting infrastructure.
• Analyzing requirements and following testing standards and guidelines to define dynamic test plans and test cases/scenarios.
• Contributing to the achievement of testing outcomes/indicators, by supporting the establishment of test data, test environments, and test plan reviews.
• Contributing to the evaluation of test outcomes, leveraging analytical thinking, domain knowledge, and input from more experienced team members to identify opportunities to resolve specific defects and/or improve testing and verification processes.
• Participating in continuous improvement initiatives within the software engineering group, by promoting the adoption of the latest trends and technology in software testing.
• Collaborating with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver on testing outcomes.
• Embracing your team’s ways of working and a continuous learning mindset, and adhering to best practice IT Testing frameworks, ensuring you deliver continuous integration, quality assurance, monitoring, and testing to a high standard.

About You (Core Capabilities/Technical Skills):

To be successful in the role, you will require:

• 8+ years of experience & well-versed with Agile Ways of working (Scrum, SAFe).
• 5+ years of exposure to hands-on test automation using open-source tools such as Selenium, Appium, RestAssured, Serenity, Cypress, Gauge, Cucumber.
• 5+ years of Telecom domain experience with knowledge of either OSS or BSS functional flows.
• Problem-solving attitude, with good troubleshooting and software debugging skills.
• Knowledge of DevOps, with exposure to Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) software practices.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.

Role:

The role of an Automation Test Specialist includes:

• Building test automation scripts using programming language – Java/Python/JavaScript, managed using code repos such as Bitbucket, GitLab.
• Evaluating and suggesting frameworks that are fit for purpose to automate functional/Non-functional test cases.
• Analyzing and identifying test automation scope while taking responsibility for quality control for a scrum team or group.
• Defining and executing the environment strategy for SaaS/PaaS hosted applications to ensure successful completion of testing as well as test automation.
