Job Summary:

As a Software QA Engineer at Altair, you will be responsible for validating enterprise web application platform UIs and GraphQL APIs developed using cutting-edge technologies. Our platform utilizes the latest advancements in web components, K8s containerization, CI/CD, and agile development practices. You will work closely with Product Owners, Developers, and Development Operations to ensure the smooth flow of new code through the software development lifecycle, while maintaining a strong focus on quality. Additionally, our QA team continuously tests the latest innovations in ML Ops, data analytics, and data science.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in automating and testing Altair products in a multiplatform environment. You will collaborate with other QA Engineers across Altair as part of our Quality Center of Excellence, which includes Security Testing, Performance Testing, Automation, and more.

As a member of the Quality Center of Excellence team, you will closely collaborate with product management, software development, and applications engineering teams. In a fast-paced environment with prolific engineers, you will strive to be efficient, collaborative, thoughtful, and productive.

Responsibilities:

• Create and review detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases.
• Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities.
• Collaborate with internal teams, such as developers and product managers, to triage bugs.
• Implement and adopt highly automated product certification testing integrated into our CI/CD processes.
• Gain an understanding of customer use cases, delve deep into software development, and develop QA approaches to measure product confidence.
• Test microservices using stubs, mocks, and service virtualization techniques.
• Take ownership of designing and developing web UI and web service API test automation scripts, as well as organizing test suites.
• Report bugs by providing minimal steps to reproduce and identify potential root causes through log file analysis, QA/Dev tools, etc.
• Analyze test results and track software testing metrics, preparing and presenting test reports.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively within the QA team and with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and drive initiatives forward (Dev, DevOps, PM, Doc).

Requirements:

Basics:

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or a similar technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of related work experience.
• Experience working with leading Test Automation tools and frameworks such as Nightwatch, Katalon Studio, Ranorex, Selenium, and pyTest.
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Shell scripts, Python, and JavaScript.
• Experience in testing on Windows/Linux environments and familiarity with cross-platform software testing tools and environments.
• Experience in testing cloud-based SaaS products.
• Familiarity with QA Test Management Systems and ensuring coverage against requirements for feature and regression testing.
• Knowledge of tools like JIRA, GitHub, GitLab, Confluence, and Browser Developer Tools.
• Insight into customer software usage and the ability to use that knowledge to design effective tests, identify meaningful bugs, and propose valuable product ideas.
• Ability to explore and adapt to new tools and technologies for enhanced research and development efficiency and quality.
• Self-motivated team player with strong problem-solving, analytical, and quality assurance skills.
