Full Job Description

SUMMARY:

The role of a Software Quality Engineer involves collaborating with software developers to enhance software products during the development process. This includes participating in testing activities throughout the Software Development Lifecycle, such as reviewing requirements, creating test cases, executing manual and automated tests, and reporting and tracking defects. The engineer will also lead the project team in implementing quality methods and practices, while continuously identifying opportunities for improvement.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Collaborate with product owners, engineers, and team members to identify areas for improving testing efficiency, expanding coverage, and increasing product reliability.
2. Design, write, and maintain automated test scripts using best practices and industry standards, while also performing manual testing.
3. Execute automated test suites, communicate test status (including risks, issues, defects, and potential impacts), and ensure continuous operation of automation.
4. Work with various Automation development Frameworks like Cucumber, Karate, and POM.
5. Document test results to assist in debugging and modifying software.
6. Collaborate with team members to resolve issues or defects.
7. Hold and facilitate test plan and test case reviews with cross-functional team members.
8. Ensure that validated deliverables meet functional and design specifications.
9. Coordinate with the business to understand reported issues, requirements, and expected behavior.
10. Continually learn about quality best practices and technologies.
11. Help coordinate technical dependencies with other teams.
12. Provide estimates for deliverables.
13. Participate in defining project objectives.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

1. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related technical field.
2. 4+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance.
3. 2+ years of hands-on experience in developing, executing, and maintaining automated test scripts.
4. Good understanding of exploratory testing practices.
5. Knowledge of industry tools for bug tracking and test case management (e.g., JIRA, TFS, MTM, Zephyr, HPQ).
6. Hands-on coding experience in Java, C#, or any other object-oriented programming language.
7. Familiarity with automation development frameworks like Cucumber, Karate, Rest Assured, Selenium, and Protractor.
8. Knowledge of API testing and experience with source code control (preferably Git).
9. Solid understanding of Agile development.
10. Minimum 2 years of experience in object-oriented programming and JavaScript.
11. Minimum 2 years of experience in programming languages like Java or C#.
12. Minimum 2 years of experience in testing web services for REST and SOAP.
13. Minimum 2 years of experience with automated test drivers like Junit, TestNG, Nunit, etc.
14. Minimum 2 years of experience with Selenium/Webdriver.
15. Minimum 1 year of experience with front-end web application tools (e.g., Angular JS, NodeJs, Grunt, Jasmine).
16. Minimum 1 year of experience with build automation tools like Maven and Ant.
17. Minimum 1 year of experience with build management tools like Jenkins, Team Foundation Server, etc.
18. Strong SQL query writing skills (preferably SQL Server or Oracle).
19. Experience with bug tracking tools and version control systems (e.g., Jira, Perforce, SVN, Bugzilla, Git, GitFlow).
20. Solid experience in writing Test Plans, Test Cases, Test Scripts, and Test Summary reports.
21. Proven experience in understanding automation framework requirements.
