Job Description:

Genesys is seeking a talented Software Engineer in Test to join the Chennai Genesys Cloud R&D team, focusing on supporting back-end reporting services in Chennai. The ideal candidate will have experience building and maintaining test frameworks for backend services, proficiency in Java and/or JS, familiarity with microservice design principles, experience with AWS services, and proficiency in writing API automation scripts. Additionally, the candidate should possess 2+ years of professional automation testing experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while prioritizing tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Help design and implement test frameworks for new services.
• Collaborate with existing Java-based testing frameworks to implement REST API tests.
• Develop performance testing strategies using tools like Locust and integrate them into the CI/CD pipeline.
• Monitor and triage any failing automation tests.
• Assist developers in data generation and coordinate bug hunts to gather user feedback for new features.
• Act as the subject matter expert in the architecture, design, and customer use cases for the service.
• Identify acceptance criteria for complex projects and prioritize test automation to balance operational efficiency with test coverage.
• Mentor other engineers on testing practices to enhance team capabilities.
• Foster an inclusive working environment and contribute to a culture of diversity, inclusion, empathy, and fun.
• Participate in code reviews, collaboration, and open discussion of ongoing work.
• Work with the product organization and team to plan and estimate projects.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Java and/or JS.
• Experience with AWS Compute, Storage, and related services.
• Familiarity with microservice design principles.
• Experience writing API automation scripts and validating APIs.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
• Ability to use version control systems such as GitHub or Bitbucket.
• 2+ years of professional automation testing experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills and desire to make significant contributions.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive working environment.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with performance testing tools like Locust.
• Prior experience with Genesys Cloud or similar CX platforms.
